WELCOME

Cyrus and I would like to welcome you to our website. Cyrus, who's registered name is
Rarities ARBA IABCA LCA CH VLX Lion’s Share Leanellas Cyrus LRN CD WRD NDD DD CGC TDI,

is a rare German breed called a Leonberger. Heinrich Essig, wishing to produce a dog resembling the lion on the Imperial Coat of Arms of the town hall of Leonberg, Germany, used the Landseer, Newfoundland, St. Bernard, and Pyrenean Mountain Dog to create this distinguished breed. The Leonberger is a strong, muscular yet elegant dog whose body structure was originally built as a working dog but today he serves as a great companion. In my opinion they are the best dogs in the world to have, for more detailed information on them please visit the important link page.

I have been researching and involved with Leonbergers since 1999 and currently own one male, which is Cyrus. Right now I'm in the infancy stage of getting my kennel established and also plan in the near future to start my search for a female Leonberger. Cyrus is currently registered with the Leonberger Club of America and because I agree with their strong code of ethics I plan on registering my kennel with them as well. Please check back to see how my search is coming along and in the mean time enjoy our site.

I'm pleased to announce that Cyrus was named Top Leo #4 in conformation for 2005

On November 13, 2005 Cyrus participated in a Draft test with the Newfoundland Club of Northern California and came very close to obtaining his draft dog title. He passed most of the exercises but failed on the maneuvering course. Because there was a female in heat nearby he was not as responsive as usual and due to a handling error on my part I miss directed him through a section that caused him to fail. Cyrus has only been drafting since early spring and I'm so proud at how far he has come in the last six months I have no doubt that we will obtain his title next spring.

October 22 & 23, 2005 Cyrus participated in our fall LCA regional and placed first place in the Champion male class against some very nice boys on both Saturday and Sunday and obtained a nice critique and excellent rating from one of our very own top breeders and judges Alida Comtois.

October 1, 2005 Cyrus participated in the Rarities Inc. show in San Martin, CA., He had an incredible weekend with winning breed all four shows, group two twice, group once twice, Reserve Best in Show and Best in Show and coming home with 22 ribbons :) . His incredible wins also obtained him the Rarities Inc. Championship.

September 10, 2005 Cyrus participate in a water rescue trial with the Newfoundland Club of Northern California and I'm pleased to announce passed the test and obtained his Water Dog title. All of our hard work and practice from the summer sure paid off this weekend with 11 Newfoundlands and two Leos trying for their title with only Cyrus and one Newfoundland that were able to obtain it. Cyrus was focused and quick and completed each exercise in half of the time that is allotted. I'm so proud of my boy!

On the weekend of May 14 & 15 th 2005, Cyrus and I hosted the NCLC Spring Regional here in our hometown of Livermore, CA. It was great having everyone in town and meeting new Bay Area Leo folks. Cyrus participated in the his first draft test and although he didn't pass the test he did strut his stuff in the ring and won Best In Specialty Show for both shows.

March 27- April 6th 2005 Cyrus and I headed to Texas with a bunch of friends and their Leos to attend the Leonberger Club of America's 2005 National show and 20th Club anniversary. Cyrus did well taking second place in the Champion Male Class. We had a great time meeting new friends and spending time with old ones. I want to send my condolences to Waltraut and Klaus Zieher for the tragic loss of their daughter Ute and granddaughter Sevi on the way to the show, words can't express how sorry I am for your loss my thoughts and prayers are with your family.

The week of March 1, 2005 Cyrus was bred to a big pretty girl from BoBev's Kennel. We are hoping Cyrus and BoBev's Fabulous FizziFina has a nice healthy litter of "raw" puppies!

Our club held our fall Regional Specialty in Colusa, CA. on November 13 & 14, 2004. It was great seeing everyone since we didn't have a spring show I was also surprised to see how some of the pups from last year have sprung into such Big Dogs! Cyrus had a great show with winning the champion class on Saturday but when he was in the ring for best of breed he unfortunately started to limp and the judge called it so we didn't place. However with some rest and aspirin Cyrus came back on Sunday and won the show!!

After a summer training for his jr. title Cyrus participated in his first water rescue test on September 11, 2004. Unfortunately he only passed 3 out of the 5 exercises required to pass but I'm still really proud of how far he has come since we first started training in April. We were going to participate in the Oct. 2004 water test but due to Cyrus spraining his paw in practice I had to scratch him from the test and we will begin our training again next spring.

Cyrus had a fun weekend hanging out with his Leo buddies and seeing his special Leo girl Harmony at the American Rare Breed Association Show held June 19 & 20, 2004 at the Hayward State campus in Hayward California. He took Best of Breed three out of the four shows and placed Group four twice and group three once. It was great hanging out with old friends and seeing the new pups of the next generation.

The 2004 National specialty took place on April 8-11 at Strongsville Ohio and although I was unable to attend but was very surprised and pleased to learn that Cyrus received the #5 Top Leo Award for Conformation and the #2 Top Leo Award for Obedience and he was the only Leo to qualify for both Conformation and Obedience categories for 2003.
