Roxie, Audubon, Boomer & Cyrus

On May 14 th 2005 the NCLC hosted a joint Leo/Saint Bernard Draft Test. Since Cyrus and I only had a couple of opportunities to prepare for the test I knew that we most likely would not pass and because of that I was really relaxed, it was nice being able to go through the test and not have my nerves mess it up for him. The test consisted of six exercises and I was proud that he passed four out of the six. He passed the Basic Control obedience, Harnessing and Hitching, Three Minute Out of Site Stay and Freight Load and the Intriguing Distraction. He almost passed the Freight Haul but felt the lead stewards were going to slow so he passed them up. He also failed the Maneuvering Course because of his crazy driving and bumped the obstacles more than twice as well as not being able to back up with the cart, which we never got to train for before the test. We will be practicing once the weather cools this fall and will once again try for his Draft Dog Title in November of 2005.
